For those of you who are not married you know how hard it is at this stage of the game to meet people. For those of you who are married ... just be glad you are not in the dating game anymore! In attempts to try and meet people I am on a website called ldslinkup. This is a letter that I got from a guy the other day. Just to preface this .... I don't know this person, I have not had any contact him. You should also know that on my profile it has a section called "interest" where I have written, "I LOVE to travel and I LOVE diet coke! So here is the email I got from him.

Anyone ever tell you that stuff's bad for you? The Diet Coke you say you love. You know... like maybe the prophet, or leaders of the church you belong to... or just plain old hard research?Maybe it's none of my business... but frankly I'm a bit taken back that a member... and a teacher who is supposedly educated and even athletic... aparently doesn't know any better. Do you even know what happens to Aspartame when it enters the body? Have you ever bothered to even look it up on the internet and find out? Do you ever question anything as an educator?Well in case you haven't... I'll tell you straight out. It turns into a chrystaline wood-like substance that CAN NOT be removed from the body once it is inside.Aspartame has been linked to cancer in rats, and causes MS symptoms in people with prolonged use. It's also rumored to be one of the causes of Toxic Shock syndrome that many of our military men have been sent home from Iraq for. Maybe you don't think it's any of my business what you put in your body. And maybe your right... I wonder if you say the same thing about the bretheren of the church who have warned against it for years?Just a thought...

Are you kidding me? Who does this guy think he is? Of course I wrote back and defended my self a bit. Also telling this person how judgmental they are. Here is his response to that ...

Call it what you want... it sure sounds like more rationalization to me. One diet coke a day? Who do you think you're kidding?Funny... most people (adults anyway), tend to drop a subject and ignore information that doesn't suit them. I must have really touched a nerve! Sorry if I upset you... or made you cry. I used to think that teachers were some of the coolest people on the planet... My mistake I suppose.Gotta LOVE Apathy... it's a great rationalization tool! Probably one of the best!!!You should work on not taking everything people say or write to you so seriously. That's a very unattractive quality!

Yeah ... so there you have it. That is what is left for us who didn't get married in our 20's! Heaven help us and bless our hearts! Please tell me there is at least one normal guy still out there!

update

taking the stairs at the Empire State Building

tour of Radio City Music Hall

Rockefeller Center

Me in front of Van Gogh's Starry Night (very cool!)

I guess it is time for an update. Lots and little has been going on. New York was fabulous! Holy cow that was an exhausting trip. We did about everything there is to do in New York! We saw five shows and the ballet. We saw Young Frankenstein (very fun!) Country Girl (loved it!) Hamlet (fantastic) Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (really didn't like it) South Pacific (great!). The Ballet was wonderful! I got to see lots of art which I loved! It was just such a fun trip.

After getting home I had one more meeting at school and THEN I was officially on summer break! I dove right into summer by painting my guest room orange ... pumpkin orange! It is dang cute! I will post pictures when I get the room all put together. You are all going to want to come and stay. I have a huge long list of projects to accomplish while on summer break. I am doing well at picking away at it. As of now my schedule is to sleep in until about 8:00, I get up and have breakfast on the patio and then water my plants. I pick a chore off the list. Sometime around noon I make my way to my parents house to catch a little pool time. Something fun usually comes up in the evening. It is a pretty nice life. I am sure enjoying it. I want to soak up every minute of summer, sun, and fun that I can!

Two weeks!!! I have not posted in two weeks. No, I have not been off on a wonderfully, exotic adventure. I simply have been very busy and sick! I am officially done with my 6th year of teaching. I can't believe that another year and has come and gone. Winding down a school year is a lot of work and stress and business along with some fun. There is also a very emotional aspect to ending a school year. Only other teachers will understand this. Unconsciously I get quit attached to my students. If you think about it a teacher spends more time with their students than most of their parents do. With some of my students I become very involved in their lives. I know their friends & enemy's. I know about their ups and downs. I become a confidant and for some a mother figure. And then ... in the matter of a graduation ceremony it all ends. I will never see most of these kids again. And while I am excited for their futures and all that there lives have in store for them there is a sense of loss that comes with the closing of a school year. I do tend to get over it rather quickly as I realize that I am FREE! I am free for 2 1/2 months. Oh how I do love my summers. I need this time to recoup and get excited about teaching again. Some how my heart lets go of those past students and makes room for the new kids that envelope my life!

Now for the sick part. I have not been sick all year. I did not take one sick day! This is the first year of being a teacher that I did not get strep throat. And then the last week of school. The busiest week, the one week I simply can't take a sick day ... I get sick! It has been such a drag. I feel that I am on the mend. I sure hope so because I am off the New York City tomorrow and can't be dragged down by being sick. So I am off for another week and then shall return with lots to blog about!
