Prom Dress Pool Time

What do you do in the pool at the end of the summer?
You have a sister who shows up with a couple prom dresses, a willing niece, and an underwater camera ....
You can get some pretty cool picture wearing pink taffeta in the pool ... and some kinda spooky ones too. Good times in the pool!

Old Habits Die Hard

Sunday 1:12 PM
This is what is found on my kitchen counter.
The PERFECT combination!
Old habits are hard to break ... but sometimes I ask ... why try?
(this photo was not altered, set up, arranged, or manipulated for the purpose of this blog post. In other words ... that really is what was on my kitchen counter.)

35 and ... a HALF!

Having a December birthday ... and well for the love of my birthday ... I TRY to celebrate my HALF BIRTHDAY.
I have a few people who play into my indulgence. It is no surprise that my BF is one of them. Beckie had come to town when I was out of town (total bummer!). When I got home this package was waiting for me. I had SO much self control and I actually waited until my 1/2 birthday to open it. What silly little present did Beckie find me?
OH MY GOSH!
Was I shocked when I opened my present to find this beautiful quilt that she had made me!
This is NOT a 1/2 birthday present ... this is ... like ... wedding present worthy!!!
I really am the luckiest girl in the world to have a BF like Beckie.
Thanks again Beck. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my quilt! This was my BEST 1/2 birthday EVER!
I also got little presents from Hun, Em, and my Mom! :)

Cul-De-Sac of FIRE Fire fire

Are you dying to hear about our 4th of July extravaganza this year?

(setting up the stage)
There is such an excitement in the air the morning of the 4th. I love it as much as I love the actual event!

After last year (how could we EVER top last year?) and the 4th being on a Sunday, thus celebrating on the 3rd, we thought we would have a more 'low key' year.
Do we update the cul-de-sac design?
How can we NOT?
So we did!

There is a lot to be done. And it is all very exciting!
Oh how I do LOVE the 4th of July! One of the best moments for me is when I drive down the street and see the big orange cones blocking off the cul-de-sac. I know it has begun!

Hun out did herself with her super cool paper decor.

The cul-de-sac is a buzz as the crowd starts to gather.
So what did we do for the Cul-De-Sac of Fire this year? .......
We had Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band!!!
yep ... we are that cool! The Fire Girls gave the crowd a little surprise when they marched .... right past the stage ...
... and the new Fire Boy busted out!
Don't worry, we'll be back next year.

The crowd!
Safety First!

The finale! It was pretty amazing.
You can see a video of the night here.
Is there any wonder why the 4th of July is my favorite day of the year? I love everything about it. I love that we live in a community and country where we have the freedom to have these kinds of associations and celebrations! I love that our friends and neighbors ... new and old come together. I love that we start the night with a prayer and saying the pledge of allegiance followed by our nations anthem. I love this country! We are very blessed people.
God Bless America!
