This morning as I came to school I noticed several students dressed up. It turns out that the student body of my school started a text message chain encouraging each other to wear "best dress" today in honor of Pres. Hinckley. I am so impressed with our students. As I look out at my class right at this moment it is hard not to get teary as I see young men wearing ties and the girls in their dresses honoring a great man! I love that I live in Utah where something like this can and does happen.

The first thing I thought of when I heard that President Hinckley died was the amazing reunion that was taking place at that moment. Just imagine how the heavens opened and he was reunited with his sweet wife, the greeting line of all the prophets that have gone before him, choirs of angels, friends and family, and most importantly our Savior saying, "Well done thy good and faithful servant." What a spectacular event that must have been!

SURPRISE!

I had such a great weekend! My best friend, Beckie, lives in Colorado. Her sweet husband wanted to surprise her by flying me in for the weekend. It all started with her asking him if he would go see 27 Dresses with her. He said he would rather fly me there than have to go to that movie. (such a guy!) That gave him the great idea to surprise her by really doing it. So Saturday morning I flew to CO and showed up at her front door. It was so fun to surprise her! Greg took the kids and we hit the ground running!

First we hit the mall. What would a weekend trip with your best friend be without shopping! We went to not one movie but TWO! Back to back! We started with PS I Love You. We both cried through the whole thing. We took a quick bathroom break and refilled our large popcorn and drinks before we hit 27 Dresses. A very cute movie. Sadly ... I can relate to the closet full of brides maid dresses! :) We toured some model homes in her area. I picked out a lovely $700,000 home. On Monday we got pedicures and had lunch. We then did a little home improvement project and some more shopping. Of course we talked and talked.

The weekend came to end much to quickly! The only down part of the weekend was sitting in the Denver airport for many hours while my flight kept getting delayed due to the storm in SLC. After a very long nigh
t I made it home to a car covered in a foot of snow.
nice finger in the picture.

Thanks Greg for a great weekend with my best friend! You definitely win husband
of the year for this one!

this was our home improvement project.

The snow is lightly falling, music is playing, my students are happily working. As I sit here glazing, what is going to be a very fun bowl, being entertained by my students conversations, I can't help but think .... it doesn't get any better than this! These are the moments I love my job!

Handy Man?

I have decided not to sell my house. I have been toying with the idea for the past year. But have decided that I would hold off for a while. SO ... I want to do some home improvements. I want shelves in my garage, moldings around my windows, I want to turn my 3rd bedroom into a guest/office room and I REALLY want a soft water system!!! (who would have ever thought THAT would be on top of my list?) For the first two things on my list I need to hire someone ... a handy man! I need a handy man! Where does one get one of those? How much does a handy man cost? I am totally clueless on how this all works. Advise anyone?

A few thoughts ....

* I pulled out of the school parking lot behind one of my co-workers. As we came up to the first light she was turning left and I was going straight. That makes for a very awkward moment. You kinda wave and then what? I always feel like I should unroll my window and say something or make a funny face .. something! You are both just sitting there trying not to look uncomfortable. Even worse is when you try not to make eye contact. It is just one of those awkward moments in life.

* Did you know that if you don't use a bag or bags (I take my own reusable bags, my attempt at going green) at Smith's grocery store they credit you $.05 for every bag you would have used! So not only are you saving the environment you are saving money!

* This has been a very long week! What makes time time 'speed up' or 'slow down'?

That's all. Just a few thoughts.

On New Year's Eve my sisters and thought it would be so funny to take pictures with my mom's snowman village. As you can imagine we thought we were sooo funny. I guess you had to be there. :)

This just might have to be next years Christmas card!

This year I decided that instead of giving my nieces presents (heaven knows that don't need more stuff. I mean what do you get a six year old that has a cell phone!) that I would give them a certificate for a hot chocolate outing with me. One afternoon last week we went to Boarders and got hot chocolates. The guy making the hot chocolates made them extra special with whip cream, chocolate sauce, and white chocolate curls. I hope these outings will create special memories for all of us!
